Rescoundudou
The site of the Rescoundudou , with Sébazac-Concourès in Aveyron, is an occupied archeological site during the Paléolithique means, with the Moustérien.
It is located at the southern limit of the Causse Comtal, along a calcareous bar, and close to a water point. It was the subject of a programmed Fouille under the direction of J. Jaubert of 1981 to 1987.
It is about a camping of hunters néandertaliens, occupied between 130.000 and 75.000 years before our era, more precisely at the time of the one of the moderate oscillations of the isotopic stage 5, approximately 100.000 years ago. The site delivered many vestiges osseous and lithic.
The Horse (45%) and the Daim (40%) there were the principal game but other species are also present: Aurochs, Bison, Asinien, stag, Bear, wolf, Rhinoceros. The climate then was to be moderate.
Industry was made out of materials of close origin, especially in Silex (80%) but also in quartz (20%). Glares were carried out by implementing the Débitage Levallois as well on flint as on quartz, which is exceptional. Some of these glares were improved to produce tools, mainly scrapers (80%). The tools evoke typical Moustérien rich in scrapers or Moustérien charentien of the Ferrassie type.
Lastly, five human teeth néandertaliennes were discovered, including 3 having belonged to children of ten year. They are the oldest human remainders found on the Département of Aveyron.
