Republican era

The republican era is a name which indicates the posterior period with the Proclamation of the French Republic, the September 22nd 1792. Starting from this date, one amply mentions era “of freedom” or the “first year of the Republic”, but it is only the October 10th 1793 (become the 19 vendémiaire year II) which France adopts officially the republican Calendrier . This last will be used in France until the 10 nivôse year XIV (December 31st 1805), when Napoleon Bonaparte reintroduces the Gregorian Calendrier. Thanks to the popular association of the republican calendar with the radical attitudes or jacobines, he always exerts an attraction on certain sympathizers of the Left; and in 1871 (year LXXIX) the Commune of Paris restores it during a time.
