Reheating (cosmology)

In Cosmology, the reheating represents the time of the history of the universe which follows the end of a cosmic phase of Inflation, during which the elementary particles created at the conclusion of inflation (for one period called pre-heating) interact until reaching the thermal balance. The term of reheating comes owing to the fact that inflation dilutes the particles of the universe considerably. At the conclusion of this one, the universe can thus be regarded as vacuum and cold. At this time there, the energy which produced the phase of inflation allows the creation of particles. Their number and their very high energy make that when they are with thermal balance, the Température of the universe is then very high, from where the term of reheating.
