Regional hospital

A regional hospital (CHR), in France and Belgium, is a Hôpital has a regional vocation dependant on a high specialization. The majority of the CHR concluded a convention with the university and are for this reason university hospitals (CHU), one names them sometimes CHRU.

In Belgium

The majority of the Belgian university towns have a CHRU, however, CHR are present on the Belgian territory, in particular with Liege which has, in addition to its CHU, the regional Hospital of the Citadel and the hospital of the Bois of the Abbey to Seraing.

In France

In France, the hospitals régionux constitute a particular category of public corporation of health. There are currently 32. French 32e CHR is that of the island of the Meeting, with a regional vocation for the Indian Ocean; it was founded in 2007.

The majority of the university big cities of France have a CHRU: Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseilles, Nancy, Nantes, Paris, Strasbourg, Toulouse

Both only CHR not CHU in France are those of Metz-Thionville and Orleans.
