Refuge Giovanni Giacomini

The refuge Giovanni Giacomini is on the collar of Forca di Presta with 1550 meters in the Apennines Ombrie/Marches (commune Arquata del Tronto).

Its construction, at the instigation of Associazione Nazionale Alpini (ANA) started in the Sixties and finished in the Seventies thanks to the contribution of several mountaineers of Ascoli among which Tullio Pallotta, Brutti and Aleandro Allevi, more known under the name of Nino, team leader of the ANNA in Ascoli. The name of the refuge was given in memory of a sergeant mountaineer died during the war and which one can see a photograph at the entry of the refuge and whose place of Ascoli Piceno carries lele name.

The refuge includes/understands approximately 34 beds and is open all the year in end of the week. It is the starting point for excursions in the chain of the mounts Sibillini and for the rise of the mount Vettore (2476m; difficulty E).

Behind the refuge the furnace bridge of the mountaineers for the commemorative ceremonies is.

From Rome, one reaches it by taking the trunk road SS4 and while leaving in Trisungo.
