Origin

It belongs to the branch Pie red of the mountains. It comes from the Val of Aoste, from which it draws its name. It belongs to the original population of the branch resulting from the south-east of the alpine arc. The genealogical Livre was open in 1985. In 2002, the number of animals is of 14200, including 409 reproductive bulls.

Morphology

It wears a red black and white dress and its clear mucous membranes. It resembles much the evolene, her cousin Suisse.
C' is a race of heavy intermediate size but with a size of 130 cm for 500 kg for the cows and 135 cm for 650 kg in the bulls. It presents a massive and muscular silhouette. The horns are short and thick.
