Red Cardell

Red Cardell is a group originating in Locquirec in the Finistere whose influences are as varied as the Anglo-Saxon Rock, the Breton Musique, the World music (Ukrainian folklore), the Techno and the festive music ( the small bar ). The group is composed of Jean-Pierre Riou (song, guitars, bombards, flute and programmings), Jean-Michel Moal (Accordéon S, synthetizers) and Manu Masko (battery, percussions, keyboards). Appeared on the Breton scene rock'n'roll well before the neo-Celtic beachcomber, Red Cardell remains about it a pillar doubly enraciné and innovative. More: 1500 concerts (Festival of the Old Plow, Eurockéennes, Francofolies…) and nine albums later, it remains with the fronts post offices of the creativity as regards music of the world. It discharges like most explosive of the groups of Rock' N roll but with arguments well with him: a single mixture of circling accordion, of acoustic and electric guitars, battery, synthetizers and samples which gives to the trio an impressive firepower. It revives its flame by interfering rates/rhythms of dances ethnic Brittany and besides, rock'n'roll, electro and French song, sometimes ludic and popular, sometimes engaged and spell-binding.

Scenic creation

Red Cardell makes its ball is a spectacle produced by the Theater of Cornwall, National scene of Quimper, put in scene by Jean Beaucé. In March 2004, the group proposes an idea of creation to the team of the theater, this one imagines the history of an individual of its birth at the adulthood through cultural and social modes of transmission, in particular the ball. Samples of sound archives and musical loops nourish the composition of the musics of dance. The texts and the music are written with the Workshop of the Theater. The two projects, scene and album, are born at the same time. The group then decides to join together a great number of guests on the disc. Musicians and singers of Ukraine answer the Berber and Breton monotonous chants. The samples are generally replaced by cords and instruments wind. Red Cardell ensures the production, the recording (Quimper, Rochefort and Kiev) and the mixing Naître , their ninth opus, in a small hotel closed for the winter, in Locquirec, Breton balneal small station where the group likes ressourcer.
