Receswinthe
Receswinthe was a king Visigoth of 653 until its death in 672.
As of 649, it shares the capacity with his father Chindaswinthe, then it only reigns starting from 653 on a kingdom which includes/understands the Ibérie, the Aquitaine and the Narbonnaise.
At the beginning of 654, Receswinthe promulgates a new code of laws, to replace the Bréviaire of Alaric, which establishes the same law wisigothe for Goths and the Romans of the kingdom and which facilitated, in particular, the mixed marriages between the two people. However, this Liber Judiciorum , or Forum Judicium showed little Germanic influence. It is inspired much the right of Justinien, on the structure of which it is built. It shows that the conquest of Justinien had repercussions until there in Occident.
The councils of Tolède, the capital, become one of the principal bodies of the capacity, and the bishops the best support of monarchy. Lasting Will written in the Age of the faith :
- “By their education and a higher organization, they dominated the noble ones which sat with them at the time of the councils of Tolède; and although the authority of the king was theoretically absolute, and that it chose the bishops, these councils had elected it, and required the respect of the political commitments previously held. ”
