Ranch

A ranch is land and buildings, including/understanding buildings and grounds, intended for the extensive breeding ( ranching in English) of the Bétail.

Presentation

The ranches can be of any size, some have arable lands, irrigated or not, producing fodder harvests. One finds them mainly in the South of the United States.

Example of ranches

Two of the largest ranches of the world are:

  • King Ranch with the Texas, including/understanding a breeding of horses and cattle on more than 3.000 km ².

  • Dadanawa Ranch in Guyana, including/understanding a breeding of horses on 4.500 km ².

In Argentinian, the ranches are indicated under the term of Estancia and function on an extensive mode of production.

In Australia, ranch says Station , of cattle or sheep. One finds them mainly in the area of the Rangelands, where they were formerly managed by pastoral beams delivered by the government.

In California is the Ranch of Neverland, property of the star pop Michael Jackson.

Universe of fiction

Constitutive of the legend of the Far West, the ranch was used with the cinema as decoration to many Western S:
  • the Ranch Diavolo

But that which remains among most famous is that of Southfork, popularized by the series Dallas.
