RCTV

RCTV , acronym of Radio operator Caracas Televisión , is a television channel private general practitioner vénézuélienne created in 1953. It ceased emitting on the terrestrial network on May 28th, 2007 and emits again since July 16th, 2007, but only on the cable and the satellite.

History

Television channel RCTV is born in 1953 whereas Marcos Pérez Jiménez was with the capacity. It belongs to the group One Broadcasting Caracas.

May 28th, 1987 the government Venezuelan of the president Jaime Lusinchi promulgates a new payment about obtaining the hertzian concessions for televisions and national radios. Refusing the support of its chain for the putschists, the director of the information of RCTV, Andrès Izarra, resigns. He declared that he had received pressures not to diffuse any material in favor of Chávez.

Relation with Hugo Chávez

Since its come to power, RCTV was opposed to president Chávez firmly; its trace programs of information highly criticized the Head of State Venezuelan.

During the electoral campaign for the presidential elections of 2006, Hugo Chávez promises to subject to referendum the renewal concessions of four private television channels vénézuéliennes having supported the coup d'etat of April 11th, 2002: Globovisión, Venevisión, RCTV and Televen.

In December 2006, the governor of the State of Miranda, Diosdado Cabello indicated that 2.000 independent media were interested by a division of the frequency currently allotted to RCTV.

French media treatment

According to an article published by the site Acrimed, the French media treatment of this episode would have been more than partial, in favor of the television channel. Ignacio Ramonet, in a leading article of the diplomatic World , sees even in the polemic the symbol of a " demolition haineuse" campaign; against Hugo Chávez.

Anecdotes

It is the first television channel having diffused a Telenovela with the Venezuela.
