Pyramidal structure of the football leagues in Iceland

The Icelandic championships of football are gathered in divisions inter-connected by a system of promotions/relegations, controlled by the Fédération of Iceland of football and gathering the Icelandic clubs of football.

Operation

The table hereafter presents this operation. For each " championnats" an official name or a name of sponsor is given. The number of clubs taking part in each level is defined in advance. Each championship makes it possible at the end of the season to promote on the higher level of the clubs and to relegate others of them at the lower level. The first of the most championship is the national champion.

Cuts

The clubs registered in the various championships can take part in the cuts.
