Puy of Goules
The puy of Goules , also called Montgoulède , is one of the tops of the Chaîne of Puys.
It is about old a Volcan of the Strombolian type typical, with a quite regular crater; it does not seem to have emitted castings of Lave. With its 1146 meters of altitude, the puy of Goules is a volcano of the Strombolian type having a splendid well drawn crater of which the depth reaches about thirty meters. The edges of the cone are, by places, stripped and let appear reddish pozzolanas on which try to cling a vegetation subjected to the full winds of west. It should be noted this contrast of vegetation enters the interior of the crater to the sheltered west of the winds and covers of shrubs and this last stripped part. This distribution of vegetation is very widespread around the craters of the chain of Puys.
