Puy de Pariou
The puy of Pariou is a top of the Chaîne of Puys, culminating with 1210 meters.
It has a typical form of Volcan of the Strombolian type and its crater is formed by two encased craters. The central crater, forming an almost perfect circle, reached 97 m of depth. The two craters are not in the same axis, contrary to those of the Puy of Like. One often compares Pariou with the Vesuvius (all things considered), with his surmounted recent cone of a Somma . Its castings of Basalte initially were followed by Lave of another nature: the trachyandesite . The cheire of the puy of Pariou is uncultivated, it is strewn with leafy trees, genévriers, and of a very fine and close-cropped grass.
