Pumping-treatment by turbine action
The pumping-treatment by turbine action is a technique of storage of energy. It consists in producing electricity with a hydroelectric station having the characteristic to be reversible. The potential energy of water is: either used ( treatment by turbine action ), or stored ( pumping ).
- At the time of the pumping , of the electricity is consumed by Moteur S actuating of the Turbine S Pompe S to move the water of a level lower than a higher level.
- At the time of the treatment by turbine action , the water which goes down from the higher level towards the lower level actuates the turbines connected to the Alternateur S which produce electricity.
One of the most important sites of Western Europe fulfilling this function is the Barrage of Grand' Maison (France).
