Ptérygotus
Pterygotus is largest of the known Euryptéride S, (one says also scorpion of the seas). It was also largest Arthropode of all the times, equalized in size only by the giant Mille-pattes, Arthropleura. It could reach a 2,3 m length, had a pair of gigantic made up eyes, and also another pair of smaller eyes in the center of its head and 4 pairs of legs to move, a fifth pair, modified of kinds of palms, as well as a large pair chelae (i.e.: grips) to allow him to capture preys. 6 tergites principal, or sections of tail, contained the gills and the reproductive bodies of the animal.
The largest pair of eyes of Pterygotus strongly suggests that it was a predator which was directed thanks to its sight. It used its palms to swim, and could probably accelerate by using its tail like a third palm. The animal is generally reconstituted by the artists seizing a primitive fish vigorously.
Pterygotus appeared with the Silurien and finally died out in the middle of the average dévonien. One brings it closer to Jaekelaopterus and Slimonia.
It has be represented by BBC in part devoted to Dévonien of first episode of series Walking with Monsters , where he threatened Brontoscorpio which itself continued a Agnathe dévonien, Cephalaspis.
