Province of Chiquitos
The Province of Chiquitos is a province Bolivia Département of Santa Cruz. It belongs what is called to the Grande Chiquitanie , with the provinces of Velasco, of Ñuflo de Chávez, Ángel Sandoval, Germán Busch and Guarayos.
It owes its name with the Amerindian tribe of Chiquitos, original inhabitants of these territories.
Creation
It was created at the same time as the department. However, until the decade 1880 it included/understood all the area, from where the name of Chiquitania. At that time large the chiquitanie was divided into what constitutes the provinces of Velasco today, of Ñuflo de Chávez, Angel Sandoval, Germán Busch and Guarayos.
Situation
It extends on the part center-is department which goes since Río Guapay (also called Large Río) until the accesses of the Río Paraguay.
Geography
Two thirds of the territory are plains very punts, the remainder being formed of corrugated territories. Sierra S of weak rise, to the irregular course cross it. The plane part gently lowers altitude towards the east and south-east and makes up of low and easily flooded grounds. We are in boreal Chaco. There are wood bulky and Lagos or plains released with an abundance of palm trees. The territory is eminently agricultural (bovine breeding) and forester.-

Hydrography
The province of Chiquitos is very particular on this level, because the essence of its hydrography is based on the basin of the Río Parapetí. It is here that finish Bañados of the Izozog and that creates for itself the Lagune Concepción.

68  was counted; 445 inhabitants in 2005. Population density: 1,90 inhabitants per km ².
