Prokopievsk
Prokopievsk (in Russian: Проко́пьевск ) is a town of Russia, located in Western Siberia. It belongs to the Oblast de Kemerovo. Its population in 2005 was of: 235400 inhabitants. Prokopievsk was created in 1918 by the fusion of the villages of Monastyrskoïe and Prokopievskoe; it received the statute of city in 1931. The city is to approximately 350 km in the south-east of Novossibirsk and 400 km in the south of Tomsk.
Prokopievsk is one of the principal centers of extraction of coal of the basin of Kouznetsk (Kouzbass)
