Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) is a American Magazine of professional wrestling.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated was lance in 1979. The magazine is known not to break the Kayfabe. Some of the magazines were going to break this kayfabe and to tell the lower parts of wrestling; PWI it forever done, treating all traditionally storylines like realities. However, more recently, the magazine carried out a leading article which was in extreme cases between the kayfabe and a frank writing, for the first time using of the terms like " storyline" and to make the difference between the competitions " with the écran" and controversies in the true life.
The PWI does not follow that the large federations, it covers also some independent organizations. The magazine includes/understands stories about various all-in wrestlers and teams. The PWI has also monthly classifications for the large federations, of which some are independent, and a general classification into simple and team.
The PWI announced that it was going to recognize three world titles when it launched its publication: NWA, AWA and WWF. When the Jim Crockett Promotions , which controlled the title of the NWA, became WCW in 1991, the WCW obtained the right of a statute of Championship of the World, with the detriment of title NWA. ECW obtained in 1999 the right which its championship of the World is recognized, a little before its disappearance. The world title of the NWA was again recognized like a Championship of the World in 2006 with the success of TNA. Two major titles of the WWE, WWE Championship of RAW and the World Heavyweight Championship of SmackDown! is also recognized in the list of the most important world titles of the PWI. In spite of the fact that the ECW returned as a division of the WWE, the PWI recognized its ECW World Heavyweight Championship.
A special magazine PWI Awards east left each year, which does not show only the winners, but the three others which received the most votes. The all-in wrestlers receive a plate for each Trophy PWI which they gain.
