Price of the Triumphal arch

The Prix of the Triumphal arch is a horse-race of dish which short first Sunday of October on the Hippodrome of Longchamp.

It is a race of Groupe I reserved for the Racehorses three years and more.

The Arc , as the racegoers call it, is run on the traditional distance from: 2400 meters of the large track of Longchamp. The edition 2007 is equipped with an allowance with: 2000000 €. The record of the test is of 2 ' 24" 60.

Since its first edition, the October 3rd 1920, the Price of the Triumphal arch became the greatest international test of dish. It is in addition the race which attracts more the punters through planet with stakes records. The race is followed by 1 billion televiewers throughout the world.

Before-race

With 12 leaving, the 86e Prix of the Arc of Triompe is announced open. The edition 2006

Before-race

In 2006, the race is presented under a a little unusual aspect: a very low number of leaving, only 8, a record since 1946. This weak participation is explained especially by the quality of the committed horses. Vis-a-vis a batch of very high-quality, the outsiders did not want to try their chance. At the beginning of this edition 2006, we find Hurricane Run, the prize winner 2005. It tries the master key of two, which was not carried out any more since Alleged (1977 and 1978). the race

The departure occurs without encumbers for all the competitors. Deep Impact carries out the first meters, then it is Irish Wells which ensures the train. At the entry of the straight line, all the competitors are still in race. Deep Impact lance the sprint with 300 meters, followed by Rail Link, whereas Pride is in last position. Rail Link clings then overflows Deep Impact, whereas Pride carries out a thundering return. Finally, Rail Link the outsider, carries it in front of Pride and Deep Impact, favorite a little disappointing. A few weeks later, Deep Impact is displaced, following a positive control antidopage, and loses its 3rd place with the profit of Hurricane Run.
