President-Kennedy house

The house President-Kennedy (PK) of UQAM is the building of the departments of the Sciences of the Earth and the atmosphere, Mathématiques, and Informatique, the laboratory of data processing, as well as several groups of research. It is located at 201 avenue du Président-Kennedy.

It was named according to the avenue on which it was built, which was named in the honor of John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

The Library of sciences which occupied the first stage of the house was moved in 2005 and is found now in the Pavillon Heart of sciences (CO).

The bust of Kennedy

The bust of Kennedy is a monument of the sculptor montréalais of Hungarian origin Paul Lancz in the honor of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The bust was initially exposed to the Kennedy Library of the Université Harvard of Boston, with the approval of Jacqueline Kennedy. After 20 years of efforts on behalf of his creator, one agreed to place it in 1986 on the avenue of the President-Kennedy, with the corner of the street Jeanne-Mance, opposite the President-Kennedy House.

The bust was entirely financed by the company of jewels Henry Birks & Fils (now become the Birks & Mayors). A plate reads there: " In homage to the citizens of Montreal, HENRY BIRKS & WIRE, 1986". Bronze was carried out at Artcast, with Georgetown, in Ontario
