Possession

the Possession is a common French, located in the department and the area of the Meeting.

Its inhabitants is called Possessionnais.

Geography

The communes of the Port, of Saint-Denis, Saint-Paul and Salazie are bordering of the Possession.

The communal territory recovers most of the Cirque of Mafate and its culminating point is very close to the top of the Dull Gros.

History

The common one was created in 1890.

  • March 5th 1976: Delivery of the Road of the Littoral, which connects the commune to Saint-Denis.

Administration

Like the Port, the Possession left the Communauté of communes preceding current the Inter-commune Communauté of the Interdependent Cities and joined that preceding the Territoire of the West coast before 2001.

Infrastructures

One finds on the communal territory three college S public:

  • the college Jean Albany, which counted 1.130 pupils with the re-entry 2005.
  • the college Texeira da Motta.
  • the college Raymond Rods, which counted 740 pupils with the re-entry 2005.

One in addition finds there a college public of mainstream education, professional and technological, the college of the Pretty Mill. It counted 1.060 pupils with the re-entry 2006.
