Port Harcourt
Port Harcourt is the Capitale and principal Ville of the state of Rivers in the south of the Nigeria. Located on the delta of the Niger it is named according to, Secretary of State to the colonies of 1910 with 1915.
History
Originally populated by the Ethnie Idjo the city was founded in 1912 by the colonist S Britannique S. It initially was used as port of shipment of the coal coming from the mines from Enugu.
Since the Années 1990 the city is the theater many clashes related to the control of the oil manna, in 1995 in particular the writer and activist Ken Saro-Wiwa was hung by the military government.
Economy
Port Harcourt is the main city of Nigeria for the Raffinage of oil, and the industry of the Pétrole thus holds a dominating place to with it. The fishing being the other important activity.
At Port Harcourt is the French factory of tires Michelin and Elf machines it (TOTAL). The Michelin factory closed its doors there is little. A French school is also at Port Harcourt. This school names Elf-Michelin.
Port Harcourt is connected by Railroad to Maiduguri.
