Population

In Statistical descriptive, a population is a Ensemble finished Objets (the individuals or statistical units) on which a study goes and whose elements answer one or more common characteristics. One can thus speak about a population of nuts produced in a unit of a factory.

In Statistical mathematics, to use the concept of Probabilité the population is supposed to be infinite. Under these conditions, the sample is defined as a whole of random variable whose actual values represent achievements.

A whole of Individu S of same a alive Espèce remaining in a given territory is a biological population and the scientific disciplines by making the study are called the " Biology of the populations " - which is a branch being attached to various other disciplines such as the ecology - or the " Genetic of the populations " , biology of the evolution connects.

The human population is studied by the Démographie, the Sociologie and the human Géographie.

Descriptor of population

The description of the populations can be done:
  • Using variable known as descriptors (those relate to the size, the age, the Birth rate, the sex-ratio…).
  • By the genetics (estimate of the frequency of genes)
  • By dynamics (Birthrate, Mortality, decline…)

Capacity of reception

One allots, with a portion of territory, a capacity of reception ( carrying capacity ) which limits the growth of the population. Certain observers of the human society estimate that the concept of capacity of reception must be also applied to the human populations, and that an uncontrolled growth of the human population could involve a Catastrophe Malthusian. Other specialists are opposed, them, categorically with this thesis….

Techniques of control of the populations

  • technical of the Male deads
  • technical of the genetically modified Male
