Pont Saint-Louis

The bridge Saint-Louis is a Pont located at Paris.

Situation

The Saint-Louis bridge is located in IVe district and connects the island of the City to the island Saint-Louis.

History

The current bridge use is the seventh connecting the two islands since 1630. The Pont Saint-Landry (1630 - 1634) was the first of Sept. In 1717 a bridge of wood is rebuilt, with seven arches, called " Rouge" bridge; , because of painting used. It is destroyed in 1795, by the risings. In 1804, under the direction of engineer Dumoustier, a new bridge is built with two arches, 70 m length on 10 m broad, primarily in oak. It is demolished in 1811 because of a depression, and a suspended bridge replaces it in 1842. Twenty later, it are replaced by a metallic bridge, with only one arch of 64 m opening. In 1939, it is destroyed. In 1941, it is replaced by a footbridge resembling an iron cage. In 1968, the current bridge is born, and inaugurated in 1970.
