Play of the assassins

The play of the assassins (also called play of the assassin , Killer or paranoia ) is a game generally played in the university campuses and among the communities of high-school pupils. This activity is, primarily, a Roleplay life size where the goal of the players is “to kill” out of other players, in order to be the last surviving assassin.

The play of the assassins is an intrusive play in the direction where it is not restricted with a particular time interval (in the rules of the game of Salen and Zimmermann it is described like a play “invading the daily life”). Because the play is not delimited during a specific time interval, but is integrated into the day laborers activities of the players. A part can have of the days to see weeks, and while the play is in hand, all the players are the target of another player, and also have their clean target. The play is designed to induce an atmosphere of paranoia, since an attempted murder can occur almost at any time.

Rules

The play of the assassins is not a published play (although the editor Steve Jackson Games published a booklet on this subject, heading Killer ) and the rules vary considerably according to the groups. There are certain common elements, however. At any hour given, a player always has a “target” (or more one) which it must try to kill, and each player is in his turn the target of another assassin (at least). The targets are assigned by the organizers of the play, and a player is always unaware of which person has the role of assassinating it. In greater parts, the players can even be unaware of the identity of the other players.

Street Wars

For a few years parts of the play of the assassins with large scales have been organized, in the American big cities. Named Street Wars and using exclusively as arms with the water pistols, the part is held over several weeks. The inscription is paying and the last survivor (thus the winner) receives an amount of money.

In September 2007, part of Street Wars is organized in Paris. One of the participants writes each day of the chronicles on its adventures in the play in the free daily newspaper 20 minutes.
