Pierre Renouvin (1893 - 1974) is a French historian, specialist in the history of the International relations.

Biography

After its experiment of the war, during which it is mutilated with the Chemin of the Ladies, Renouvin specializes in the study of the First World War. It devotes then its research to the comprehension of the international great events. It is for this reason a precursor of the history of the international relations, in opposition to the history traditional Diplomatique. Influenced by the School of Annals, it privileges the analysis of the “major forces” of the events.

Professor of history of the international relations to the Sorbonne, member of the Academy of Science morals and political in 1946 and chairs national Fondation of political sciences of 1959 1971, its personality and its work had a great influence on several generations of historians, in particular on Jean-Baptiste Duroselle.
