Pierre Rapsat

Pierre Raepsaet better known under the name of Pierre Rapsat is a Belgian Auteur-compositeur-interprète born with Ixelles the May 28th 1948, of a Flemish father and a mother who was the girl of Spanish refugees, which in addition inspired these songs “Adéu” and “Dawn”. At the ten years age, his/her parents settle in Verviers, which will become its town of adoption until its death in 2002.

After having played in various groups, it starts a career in solo in 1973. Its powerful, oscillating style between Rock'n'roll and French song, is original and pleasant but hardly allows him to bore. Rapsat is obstinated however, works its texts and its music, leaves album on album. In 1976, it represents the Belgium with the Concours Eurovision of the song to $the Hague with “Judy and Co”. In 1982, with 30.000 sold specimens, the album “Release the deer”, is its first great success in French-speaking Belgium. Untiring animal of scene, Pierre Rapsat is everywhere, including with the Festivals of Wallonia. Success is confirmed with “clear Line” and “I like that”. In 1986, it gives its first concert to Forest National. One period less inspired will follow, and will have to be awaited 2001 so that the fame of Pierre Rapsat exceeds the borders of French-speaking Belgium. Left in 2001, the album “Dazibao”, which receives a very positive reception in Belgium, but also in France, is that of the true dedication. Unfortunately, Pierre Rapsat will very little taste the happiness of this success: reached of a cancer, he dies the April 20th 2002.
