Pierre Joseph de Ligniville

Pierre Joseph de Ligniville (born the February 19th 1782 with Boulay (the Moselle) - died? ) was a French soldier of the 19th century.

Biography

Pierre Joseph de Ligniville engaged, in 1798, in the 1st regiment of dragons, was appointed second lieutenant by the First Consul on the field of Bataille Marengo, where it had been seriously wounded. Become and assistance-of-camp major of the generals Clarke, Beker, Masséna, it attended close to them all the battles of the Large army. It followed Masséna to the Portugal in 1810, returned in France after the Bataille of Vittoria, led its regiment (13th dragons) to Leipzig and on the occasion to be announced in the Combat of Naumbourg, three days before arriving on the battle field.

Put of availability until in 1833, it then ordered the department of the the Jura, and in 1837, the inspection of the troops of the navy and the fortifications to the Senegal, with the French Guiana, the Martinique and the Guadeloupe.

Returned to France in 1838, one entrusted to him the subdivision of the Loire-Inférieure.

Pierre Joseph de Ligniville was Commandeur of the Legion of honor, knight of the military Ordre of Bade and of the military order of Spain.
