Pierre II of Yugoslavia

Pierre II of Yugoslavia (Croatian: Petar II ; Serb: Петар II ) was the last king of the Royaume of Yugoslavia of 1934 with 1945. It had been born the September 6th 1923 and died the November 3rd 1970 with Denver with the Colorado (the United States of America).

It was the son of Alexandre Ier, king de Yougoslavie, of the dynasty of Karađorđević. It succeeds to him after the assassination of Marseilles in 1934 under the Régence of the prince Paul Karađorđević. Hitler sends an ultimatum to prince Paul: or Yugoslavia adheres to the tripartite treaty (with Germany, Italy and Japan) or it is the invasion. Paul accepts and signs the treaty that one imposes to him. In a renewal of patriotism, the generals Mirkovitch and Samovitch, supported by the the United Kingdom and a spontaneous popular revolt, put the young person Pierre II at the capacity the March 27th 1941.

But, the king promises to sign the tripartite pact to protect his country from a German attack. That does not prevent in the days which follow that Germany and its allies attack simultaneously, without declaration of war, Yugoslavia and the Greece. During 2 days and starting from the April 6th 1941, Belgrade is bombarded by of Stuka, making nearly 17.000 dead. Vis-a-vis the fast invasion of the country like to a revolt of the Croatian separatists of Ante Pavelitch, Yugoslavia can nothing make. April 11th, Zagreb fall, the 12, it is Belgrade, 16 it is Sarajevo and the 17, Dubrovnik, day of the Yougoslave capitulation, while the king flees in England while passing by Cairo.

With London, in 1944, it marries Alexandra of Greece, girl of the king Alexandre Ier of Greece.

The April 29th 1945, the projects of return of the king are thwarted by the vote of the constituent Assembly Yugoslav which deposits it, opening the way with the introduction of the communist mode of Tito.

Buried with Libertyville (Illinois), he is the only European monarch buried on the ground states-unien.

His/her son, Aleksandar Karađorđević, is the applicant with the throne of Serbia.
