The darmstadtium (known before under the name ununnilium ) is a chemical element, of Ds symbol and Atomic number 110. It is a synthetic element whose Demi-vie exceeds only little the minute in the case of the most stable Isotope.

History

It was synthesized for the first time the November 9th 1994 by Peter Armbruster and Gottfried Münzenberg, under the direction of the professor Sigurd Hoffmann with the Research center on the heavy ions ( Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung, GSI) of Darmstadt in Germany. After checking of discovered in 2001, the discoverers proposed the name, which was adopted by UICPA the August 16th 2003.

Currently, we know nine isotopes of darmstadtium, all unstable: of Ds in Ds, Ds and finally Ds, whose half-life is 1,1 minute.
