Pico Bolívar

The Pico Bolívar is more the high summit of the Venezuela with: 5007 Mr. It is located in the state of Mérida, not far from the town of Mérida. He was thus named in the honor of Simón Bolívar.

Pico Bolívar is located on the mountain previously named Columna, near El León (4 743 m) and of El Toro (4 695 m). The new name was suggested by Miguel Febres Cordero in 1925. It was officially adopted the December 30th 1934.

Note

Official altitude is now of 4.981 meters, it was confirmed by a measurement GPS in 2006. An old altitude of 5.007 meters, is sometimes quoted.
