The Piano-melodium is a Musical instrument of which there exists only one specimen in the world.

History

This giant instrument was ordered by Franz Liszt and was built on its data by the house “Alexandre and wire” of Paris in first half of the 19th century.

Characteristics

Combination of Piano and Organ, the keyboard-melodium consists of three keyboards, pedals, sixteen registers and a piping reproducing all the instruments winds. It was the short cut of orchestra essential to the eternally avid Compositeur to discover or invent new sound compositions.

The only known reference making it possible to prove the existence of this instrument is its mention in the work life of Franz Liszt by Guy de Pourtalès.
