Photovoltaic panel with concentration

or solar panel with concentration

The solar panels with concentration use photovoltaic cells having outputs of conversion energy of the sunlight of about 30 to 40%

To use the effectiveness of the cells as well as possible, the light is concentrated by lenses of Fresnel on the cell. The panel is assembled on a mobile system which enables him to follow the race of the sun and to be permanently perpendicular to the rays of the sun.

Compared to the traditional flat silicon panels, the output is clearly improved:

  • By the effectiveness of the cell, 37% instead of 15 or 22%.

  • By the tracker (profit of 45%).
  • By the lens which can concentrate the light with a factor 1.000.

Various manufacturers propose this type of apparatus: Sol3G in Spain, Pyron solar in California, Green and Gold Energy in Australia.

To calculate the power of these apparatuses, it is necessary to use the data concerning the intensity of the direct light which arrives at the surface of the ground. This intensity varies according to the latitude.

For example, in Lyon, the average data, based over 10 years of observations, suggested by NASA are of 3,42 kW/m ² /jour.
