Philippe de Hesse-Cassel
Philippe de Hesse Darmstadt born Philippe de Hesse-Cassel in 1896, dead on October 25th, 1980. Wire of Frederic-Charles de Hesse-Cassel which was elected king of Finland in 1918 without never occupying the throne of it, he inherited with dead this one in 1940 the title Landgrave Hesse.
He inherited moreover title Large-Duke of Hesse and the Rhine to the extinction of the branch junior by Hesse Darmstadt in 1968, taking into account a pact of family concluded between the two branches in 1902.
In 1925, it married Mafalda of Savoy. He is the father of Moritz of Hesse-Darmstadt born in 1926, Henri (1927) and Othon (1937).
At the time of the Second world war Philippe of Hesse-Darmstadt was used as messenger between Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, it was named responsible for the party Nazi for the area of the Hesse. With the release of the Germany in 1945, Philippe of Hesse-Darmstadt was imprisoned.
