Philip Pullman is a British writer born with Norwich (England), the October 19th 1946. He lived during his childhood in Australia and with the Zimbabwe where he carried out part of his schooling. Graduate of the university of Oxford, it teaches in this city where it lives with his wife and her two sons. The majority of the books of Philip Pullman are intended for youth, but he also writes for the adults and signs, for the young spectators, of the theatrical adaptations of famous literary works.

Published between 1995 and 1999, this cycle is one of its larger success with the the United Kingdom as in France. It was adapted to the Theater National of London. New Line currently prepares a film planned for Christmas 2007. Chris Weitz, which already wrote the scenario of it, will carry out film.
