Peugeot 103

The Peugeot 103 is a Cyclomoteur launched to France in the the Seventies, replacing of the 102.

History

In second half of the Eighties and the Nineties, the mob (abbreviation of Mobylette, model of auto-cycle created by Motobécane), or the " meule" , was the symbol of the young people. The battle was done between the 103 from Peugeot and the 51 from Motobécane (become MBK with the repurchase by Yamaha).

It was the great time of the wild modification of the small engines of the Mobylette S, energy of simple the pot with the large carbu while passing by kits of cubic capacity, the mobs climbed to 90-100 km/h (currently some manage to exceed 140 km/h instead of 45 km/h, the maximum speed authorized for a auto-cycle).

Models

Several ranges last and present exist:

MVL : The MVL is the utility directed version, with back luggage stand and side satchels. The engine is cooled by air and starts with the pedals.
SP : The SP is mechanically equivalent to the MVL, the difference is its integral arm oscillating supporting the engine. The first 103 SP are of metallized green color and rims with ray. The range is enriched by a version " SPR" in 1979 which is of color blue metal with rims with sticks and saddle " confort". Thereafter, of new colors made their appearance: blue harms, red, black. Additional precision concerning a model between SP, the 103 SLC (Sport Liquid Cooled) which was one 103 SP with liquid cooling. (type of framework at Peugeot: V51!)

Fox : It is very much used by the deliverymen of Pizza. Halfway between the 103 and the Scooter, this machine is made of a framework of 103 and a motorization of scooter.
