Peter Lambert

Peter Lambert , born on June 1st, 1859 died in 1939, was a German Rosiériste of Trier (the Rhineland-Palatinat).

One owes him a group of hybrids of Rosa moschata, named Rosa X lambertiana , the “pinks of Lambert”, of which the first was in 1904 the type `Trier', rose tree bush with going up flowering. This one was cross thereafter with hybrid of the.

Peter Lambert founded the roseries Sangerhausen (Saxony-Anhalt) and Deux-Ponts (the Rhineland-Palatinat). He is also the originator of the Roseraie of Saverne (Alsace). He was member of the jurys of various contests of pinks of which those of Saint-Pétersbourg, Paris, Haarlem, London, Lyon and Florence and cofounder of the association of the German friends of the pinks ( Vereins Deutscher Rosenfreunde , VDR).

A street of Trier, the Peter-Lambert-Strasse , was dedicated to him.
