Peter Habeler
Peter Habeler , born the July 22nd 1942 with Mayrhofen, is a Austrian mountaineer .
He began in the alpinism in 1969 at the sides from Reinhold Messner.
Among his rises, one can quote:
- various forwardings in the Rocky Mountains. He was thus the first Européen to climb the Big Walls in the National park of Yosemite (the United States);
- the first rise of the Mount Everest without respiratory assistance, in 1978, company of Reinhold Messner, whereas this challenge was up to that point regarded as impossible to raise.
Among the others Summits of more than eight thousand meters with its prize list, one can quote the Cho Oyu, the Nanga Parbat, the Kangchenjunga and the Gasherbrum I.
At present, Peter Habeler directs a school of Ski and alpinism in his birthplace of Mayrhofen, to Austria.
