Pernambouc
The pernambouc , wood of Pernambouc , wood-Brazil or Pau-brazil is one of Arbre Caesalpiniaceae according to traditional classification, or of the Fabaceae (subfamily of the Caesalpinioideae ) according to phylogenetic classification.
It is originating in the North-East of the Brésil. From its wood, one drew a red dyeing brown. It is known also under its Portuguese name of Pau-Brasil .
Its area of origin is in the areas of Bahia, Espirito Santo, Pernambouc and Rio de Janeiro. It is cultivated in Brazil.
The name of wood-Brazil was given to him because of the dyeing used in textile industry, red as the ember, that one extracted some. The trade of wood-Brazil exported towards Europe was one of the first economic activities of this country. And it is this tree, very abundant in certain littoral regions, which was worth with the country its name of Brazil. Wood-Brazil is the national tree of Brazil.
This wood of a great hardness and large a impact strength is used nowadays for the manufacture of Archet S of Violon.
The Rarefaction of the species, due to a too intense Exploitation and to the reduction of its natural habitat (the Atlantic forest, or subdued atlantica ) caused the creation of a international Initiative for the conservation of the pernambouc caused by the professionals of the archetery.
