History
During many years, Penthouse was located between Playboy and Hustler in term of sexual contents explicit. Almost as of the first number, the images published showed female sexes and the pubic fleece, whereas this was regarded as obscene. Then the simulated sexual relations appeared, without visible Pénétration nor Verge. A few years later, the penises in erection made their appearance. In addition, Penthouse tried to maintain the quality of the articles, although on topics more sexual than those published by Playboy .The most famous number of the review is undoubtedly that of September 1984, which contains photographs of Vanessa Williams, then Miss America, coming from its former career of model. Williams with another woman had posed for a series of photographs in black and showing white of the acts of simulated Lesbianisme. Whereas the images of Williams did much effect at the time, the number will be also known later for the central page devoted to Traci Lords. Lords posed naked in this number at the beginning of its career of pornographic actress. It will be revealed later that she was only 15 years old at the time of the catch of sight and was not major during the major part of its career. It results from it that the possession of the number with its intact central page is illegal.
