Penjab
The Penjab - or Panjâb , Pendjab or Punjab - indicates subdivisions of the India and Pakistan, each of the two countries having recovered a portion of the country sikh at the time of independence and the partition which accompanied it, because the sikhs carried out by Baba Kharak Singh - according to Gandhi and contrary to the Musulman S carried out by Muhammad Ali Jinnah which obtained the creation of an Islamic Republic - did not wish at that time the creation of a state sikh.
Later, during the Years 1980, there was an aspiration with the creation of the Khalistan, an independent state, which led to the Massacre of the Temple of Gold of Amritsar followed assassination of Indira Gandhi by its bodyguards sikhs.
Panjâb means “(country of) five rivers” ( Panj is the same root as the Greek penta .) The five rivers are: the Beas, the Chenab, the Jhelum, the Delighted and the Sutlej.
