Pelican National Island Wildlife Refuge

The Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge is the first surface reserved for the protection of the birds to the the United States and probably in the world. It occupies 21.8 km ² of which about half represents is a maritime surface and is located on the island pelican in Florida. This park was created by Theodore Roosevelt the 14 March 1903 under the name of National Bird Preserve .
