Pedestal

A pedestal (plural: pedestal ) is an isolated support which is used to receive a column or a statue.
It is upwards made up:
- of a base (or base) in contact with the ground
- of a die (or trunk), possibly preceded by a leave
- of a Cornice of which the heel forms part
This name comes from Italian piedestallo ( piede , foot and stallo , support).
