Paxar
Paxar Corporation () is an American company whose seat is with White Plains (New York), with dimensions with NYSE under symbol PXR. Its turnover in 2005 was of more than 809 Million $.
History
Paxar has behind it a long story which begins at the end of the years 1800, its historical development goes back to 1918 at Meyer Tag and Label Company with New York. The founder of Paxar, Leon Hershaft, immigrant young person Autrichien worked in this printing works. The Meyer company developed and Leon became the managing director about it. His/her Fred brother joined the company in the years 1940, the two brothers bought the company then.At the time of the years 1960, more and more of retailers adopt the system of the Self-service, the demand for Packaging explodes, printing works develops new products to satisfy this request, like labels for the textile products. Into 1969, it changes name for Packaging Systems Corporation and is then quoted on the stock exchange.
The manufacture of labels for the textiles continues to thrive thanks to a change of legislation which imposes obligatory labelling for clothing of their composition and the instructions of washing. Paxar then carries out fabric labels which will be then bent in the various textiles. In 1971, Paxar produces the first printer making it possible to the textile manufacturers to print them same these labels. This technology made it possible the company to become one leaders of the US market. As the majority of the countries adopted identical laws, Paxar developed then in Europe, Asia and Africa.
In 1987, the company reforms its structures, sells certain activities and develops others of them, it changes again name for Paxar Corporation . It also repurchases, in 1995, very old and advantageous american company Monarch Marking Systems (founded in 1891) which offers products complementary to its range. Since then the company did not cease its policy of purchase of companies throughout the world and investments in new technologies.
The current President and Managing director of Paxar are Robert P. van der Merwe who was President of Kimberly-Clark after having worked at Colgate-Palmolive and Xerox.
Products
Paxar offers the products and services according to: embroidered, produced bar codes, labels out of paperboard or self-adhesive, printing labels electronic with Heat transfer, systems of identification RFID, etc Its products are used today in all the industrial fields for the marking of the products, or not textile textiles, including for the foodstuffs for which the requirements as regards safety are particularly increased these last years.
