Paul del Abbaco

Paul del Abbaco (in Italian, Paolo dell' Abbaco ) (born v. 1281 in Tuscan - died in 1367) was a Géomètre, Astronome and Poète Florentin of the 14th century. One very knows of him only some poetries in lower part of those of Dante, Pétrarque, etc his contemporaries.

Paul del Abbaco wrote towards 1339 a treated geometry entitled Trattato di tutta the arte dell' abacho (Treated complete of the art of the Abaque), whose Manuscrit is preserved at the central National library of Florence. A complete edition of the passages concerning the Astronomie was published in 1662 with Florence, under the title: Pratricha of astorlogia dal Codici . This work was republished nowadays by the Université of His ( Università degli studi di Siena ) with an introduction by Brunetto Piochi (His, 1985), in the Cahiers of the Center of studies on medieval mathematics n° 14 (Quaderni del Centro studi beyond matematica medioevale).
