Paul Edouard Passy (1859 - 1940) is a linguist French.

Resulting from a family which was illustrated with XIXe in the policy and sciences, he is the son of the prize winner of the Nobel Prize of peace, Frederic Passy.

He founds in 1886 the international phonetic Association, which gathered at the origin of the professors of language and takes part in the development of the International Phonetic Alphabet.

In 1906, it takes part in the creation of the Union of the Christian Socialists . Then it creates in 1909 close to Fontette (Aube) the colony of Liéfra (Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité) which functions according to the “law of Brace”. Based on the principles of Christian socialism and collectivism, the ground, inalienable collective ownership, is exploited jointly. This colony disappears with the day before from the First World War.
