Paul Guilbert

Born on June 5th, 1932 in Dury (Somme), Paul Guilbert was a French political journalist. He died in Paris in July 2002.

Former secretary of Joseph Kessel and collaborator of Paul Reynaud, president of the Council, Paul Guilbert had attended Jacques Chirac and Bernadette Chirac of the time of his studies of Political sciences. He is remained dependant with them.

He began his journalistic career as general secretary and chief from general information of the daily newspaper Combat (1960-1967) directed by Henri Smadja. He enters then to the Quotidien of Paris , launched by Philippe Tesson, in 1974. He is there chief of the political service of 1976 to 1978. He then becomes for a few months, international reporter political to the weekly magazine the Express train , before turning over to the Quotidien of Paris in 1979 as editor association in charge of the political service.

In 1988, it enters to the political Figaro like chroniquer and member of the leading committee. Appointed editor association of the daily newspaper in 1990, he is also chief of the service interior policy. Since October 1996 he was editor association political and vice-president of the leading committee.

Paul Guilbert was deputy vice-president of the presidential Press association (APP) (1985-1992). He was the vice-president since 1997.

At the time of its death, he was greeted by all the press. “It was a free talent”, wrote Jean-Marie Rouart, of the French Academy. And Jacques Chirac, president of the Republic: “It was a fine and curious spirit for which the language and the writing were an engagement, sometimes a combat”. It had in particular as a partner the writer Raphaëlle Billetdoux.
