The work of Paul Driessen

Its work is characterized by a trembling feature, with which he plays without stop. It also operates ceaseless plays of logic with the image, on various interpretations of the vision from one évenment, and the problem of subjectivtié and interaction that generates. Its films without words, but are often accompanied by sound effects having a real importance for their comprehension.

In several of its works it tries, with humor, to explain the brittleness or the interactions of the ecosystem, as of “Air! ”, or it is satisfied to show the problems of various living beings, by plays then well “At the end of the wire” for example or one sees amongst other things, of the elements of an imaginary food chain, or in “2D gold not 2D” or a character removes the single food source of a village.

In its plays of logic, it cuts out the screen into 2 as in “the boy who saw the iceberg” to show in parrellèle the vision real and imaginary of a child, or in “people of water”, with the top and the lower part of water, in the desert and the very wet country. But sometimes also from more, as in “the end of the world in four seasons” or the scenes of each image will have an influence on the others, consequently showing the problem of interaction of the ecosystem.

He always plays with these visions parallel in “the Writer and Death”, where the writings of the writer influences the life of a city and of its area and the blow of sickle of death influences the death of this same area, or in “2D gold not 2D” describing various visions and relations between worlds with 1,2 and 3 dimensions. In “3 put” various characters of counts of fairy, or of modern histories, wanting to save a young lady in distress, cross and its confronted with situation similar in their worlds.

The film “people of water” (The toilets people) to ordered summer and coproduit by “Nagasaki Holland village” shopping mall of Nagasaki to the Japan, creates with the image of the Dutchwoman city, and containing a cinema. The basic topic of the order was water.
