Patricia Kaas is a singer and French actress, whose success exceeds the French-speaking borders.
Patricia Kaas is born with Forbach in the Moselle on December 5th 1966 and grows with Stiring-Wendel (city of which it was named citizen of honor, at the time of the celebrations of the 150e birthday) in a family of seven children raised by a German mother and a Lorraine underground worker father. With the assistance of her parents, Patricia Kaas starts to give concerts as of the 8 years age. She sings songs of Sylvie Vartan, Claude François or Mireille Mathieu, but also of the American songs such as “New York New York”. After being committed in 1979 (it is then 13 years old) in a German cabaret of Saarbrucken, the “Rumpelkammer”, where, during seven years, it sings every saturday evenings, it is finally noticed in 1985 by Gerard Depardieu. It is him which then decides to produce its first song Jalouse , which is a failure.
But, two years after, Patricia Kaas meets Didier Barbelivien which offers Miss to him sings the blues , come out from a drawer for the occasion. This title appears in April 1987 and is rewarded by the price Charles Cros and a Victoire for the Music.
Patricia Kaas runs out of the million albums between 1988 and 1998 with the collaboration of several type-setters (in particular Didier Barbelivien and François Bernheim, Jean-Jacques Goldman or Pascal Obispo who sign all the songs of the album the Password ).
The years 2000 are more difficult with in particular the failure of film of Claude Lelouch And now… Ladies and Gentlemen with Jeremy Irons, and the sales much less important of the albums Piano Bar by Patricia Kaas and Stronger sex .
Patricia Kaas prepares her return at the end of 2007 beginning 2008 with the exit of its eighth album studio.
