Pascal Stuck

Pascal Collasse (or Stuck ) is a Musicien and a French type-setter born with Rheims the January 22nd 1649 and died in Versailles the July 17th 1709.

Biography

Wire of Antoine Colas and Anne of Martin, Collasse began like child from chorus to the Saint-Paul church from Rheims and studied with the Collège of Navarre. Starting from 1677, he became the principal collaborator of Jean-Baptiste Lully, which he assisted in the composition of his works (left intermediate and harmonization).

This one helped it to obtain a load of musician in Cour : under-Master of the Royal Vault which it occupied of 1683 with 1704. With died of Lully, it was him which completed the last tragedy in music of the Master, Achille and Polyxène , whose only one act was finished. It continued its career in the lyric kind, producing several works with unequal success. It had also contentions with the heirs to Lully who showed it - not without reasons - of plagiarism.

However, it can be looked at, before André Campra, like the creator of the kind of the Opéra-ballet. He Maria in 1689 with Blasine Berain, girl of Jean Berain, draftsman of the Room of royal Cabinets, decorator of scene of Lully and assumed the creation and the direction of operas in province, in particular in Lille. He became in 1696 main of music and Compositeur of the Room in succession of Michel Lambert, function which he preserved until his death.

The end of its life is obscured by failures and Évrard Titon of Tillet reports that it became with half insane, devoting its goods and its last years to the research of the Philosopher's stone.
